Professional Development

Child Care Resources of Rockland offers a variety of services and professional development and training opportunities.  Our workshops, seminars, annual conference and courses are designed to meet the needs of child care professionals working with young children in early childhood programs: family child care, group family child care, child care centers, school age programs and nursery schools.

  • Our professional development opportunities address the 9 NYS Office of Children & Family Services topic areas.  We offer 2 hour workshops on specific topics; seminar series (2-5 sessions) that explore topics in more depth, may also be schedule; Child Development Associate (CDA) courses and on-site staff development services.  We also sponsor an all day (5 training hours) annual Early Childhood and School Age Care Conference in partnership with the Early Childhood Program at Rockland Community College.

  • All workshops receive OCFS training credit in at least one of the nine required training component areas.  In addition, CEU's are available.  Child Care Resources of Rockland's workshops are not eligible for college credit.

  • Technical assistance is available to assist programs in room arrangements, material selection, establishing new programs or expanding existing programs and a variety of other topics. 

  • Professional development planning and early childhood career counseling are also available.

  • The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) provides family and group family child care providers, as well as legally exempt providers, with partial reimbursement for healthy meals and snacks they serve children in their care as well as valuable information on nutrition, developing healthy eating habits in young children, assistance in meal planning and health and nutrition training.

Distance Learning and On-Line Courses

Child Care Resources of Rockland is currently developing several distance learning/on-line courses.  However, other approved courses are available.  Only those workshops that have been approved by SUNY are acceptable for OCFS training credit.  To learn more about approved courses go to www.ecept.pdp.albany.edu and open the link to OCFS Approved Distance Learning Courses.  If you have any questions, call SUNY at (518) 443-5940. 

CCRR has partnered with Child Care Aware® of America (formally NACCRRA) Training Academy to offer Rockland County residents the opportunity to take APPROVED workshops online. To access Child Care Aware® of America Training Academy click here.

On line training opportunities are also available on the Professional Development Program Child Care Resource Center.  Funding for these workshops is sponsored by the New York State Office for Children and Family Services, funded by the federal Child Care and Development Fund and administered by the Professional Development Program, Rockefeller College, State University at Albany.  These workshops have been approved and are available to all child care providers in New York State at no cost.  If you have any questions about distance learning/on line training, please contact  Debbie Silver at (877) 425-0009 x459 or email debbies@rocklandchildcare.org.

 

The On-Line e-CDA for Infant/Toddler or Preschool/Center-Based Credential

CCRR currently offers an online, hybrid version of the CDA.  It combines a 120 hour online course with 6 monthly in person meetings.  Participants can choose  the  Infant/Toddler CDA or the Preschool –Center Based Credential  The coursework can be  started at anytime.  For more information, please contact Ellen Mitchell, CDA Coordinator, CCRR at 845-425-0009 x456 or email at  ellenm@rocklandchildcare.org.

Early Childhood Degree Programs
